Yesterday, my kindergartner won a pocket radio at her school for reading. This morning, I was helping her tune it.
I put an ear bud in each of our ears, turned it on and the song which was playing was, "Just the Way You Are."
And I think both of us needed that.
Oh, her eyes, her eyes, make the stars look like they're not shining.
Her hair, her hair, falls perfectly without her trying.
She's so beautiful, and I tell her every day.
Yeah, I know, I know, when I compliment her she won't believe me.
And it's so, it's so, sad to think that she don't see what I see.
But every time she asks me do I look ok, I say,
When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change,
Cause you're amazing, just the way you are.
And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while,
Because girl you're amazing, just the way you are.
Her lips, her lips, I could kiss them all day if she let me.
Her laugh, her laugh, she hates but I think it's so sexy.
She's so beautiful, and I tell her every day.
Oh, you know, you know, you know, I'd never ask you to change.
If perfect's what you're searching for then just stay the same.
So, don't even bother asking if you look ok, you know I'll say.
When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change,
Cause you're amazing, just the way you are.
And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while,
Because girl you're amazing, just the way you are.
The way you are, the way you are.
Girl you're amazing, just the way you are.
When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change,
Cause you're amazing, just the way you are.
And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while,
Cause girl you're amazing, just the way you are.

Scared
I was busy in the kitchen while my daughters watched a movie. It was called "Spooky Buddies" which is not a movie I would normally have shown to them, but it was a gift, and harmless if more than a little cheesy. About part of the way through, Ria comes in.
"Mommy, I scared."
"You're scared? Of the movie?"
"Uh-huh."
"Oooh, that's alright, you can stay in here with mommy and help me make dinner."
"Okay, mommy!"
And she did.
"Mommy, I scared."

"Okay, mommy!"
And she did.

Picking Pecks of Peppers
I love working in the garden, pulling peppers and beans. Smelling and feeling the earth and growing things around me.
I love storms. I love working in the garden in storms (provided my coat is warm enough.)
I love the sound of my daughter laughing with her new found friends, and even the grumbles when they suddenly cease to get along.
But most of all, I love cuddling my girls, one in each arm, and smelling their sweet hair.
